AFM to build two tuna seiners
The two 80m vessels will operate in the Indian Ocean, and planned to be delivered in 2019.
The ship is designed to carry tuna, equipped with an innovative system designed to freeze and conserve tuna at -40°C (compared to -17°C on traditional tuna boats).
This process enables a significant improvement in fish quality and consequently an increase in its value-sashimi quality.
The propulsion is diesel and electric rather than conventional - the shaftline and propeller are driven by two electric motors, which provide more energy and cost less.
